For the past 19 consecutive years, Trade Show News Network has ranked Las Vegas as the No. 1 meeting and convention destination in North America. In 2012, the total economic impact of meetings and conventions in Las Vegas was $6.7 billion and supports nearly 60,000 jobs in Southern Nevada.
What is the next big development to fuel tourism in Las Vegas?
Terry Jicinsky, ’06, Las Vegas Convention & Visitors Authority, will speak about the $2.5 billion Las Vegas Global Business District project, one of the city’s largest and most visionary projects.
The 10-year project will create an international complex, including major renovations to the 54-year-old Las Vegas Convention Center, expansion of the World Trade Center designation, and create a centralized transportation hub that will improve connectivity in the resort corridor.

Terry Jicinsky, ’06 is senior vice president of operations for the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Las Vegas Convention Center and Cashman Center. The 3.2 million square foot Convention Center is the third largest center in North America and has helped Las Vegas achieve the No. 1 trade show ranking in North America for 19 years.
With over 25 years experience in the travel and tourism industry, Jicinsky’s career path has covered aspects ranging from consumer travel research, internet marketing, database marketing and hotel management. Jicinsky previously served as the senior vice president of marketing for the LVCVA, stewarding the world-renowned branding campaign, “What happens Here Stays Here TM.”
